On March 7, 2026, Consul & Head of Post Li Xiaoyan of the Chinese Consulate in Laoag attended and addressed the 77th Founding Anniversary of the Gov. Roque B. Ablan Sr. Memorial Academy in Ilocos Norte. 

Extending her congratulations to the faculty and students, Li noted that the Chinese and Filipino people share a resonant past in the fight against fascism. She recalled that last year, China commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, underscoring that "peace is never a given." Noting that the school bears the name of a Filipino WWII hero, she encouraged the students to carry forward his indomitable spirit. She urged the youth to study hard and, in the future, become inheritors of China-Philippines friendship, as well as active participants in and contributors to the building of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind.
