2007-05-23 00:00

On May 23, 2007, a 25-person delegation of City University of Hong Kong visited our ministry and held an informal discussion with the officials from the ministry. Assistant Foreign Minister He Yafei received the delegation.

Assistant Foreign Minister He extended a warm welcome to the students from City University of Hong Kong on behalf of the foreign ministry, saying, "You are the future of Hong Kong and the motherland. The future and development of Hong Kong and the motherland depends upon you. You should work hard to know more of Hong Kong and the mainland as well. The development and change of the mainland, and the long history, lasting culture, and beautiful sceneries of China are worthy of being known more of. There is a saying in China, 'Read thousands of books, and travel thousands of miles around.' Travelling itself is a good learning process. I believe that you will learn a lot of things in your trip this time."

He encouraged the students to contribute their parts to the better future of Hong Kong and to the development and prosperity of the great motherland.

When the meeting concluded, He sent the books titled Ten Stories of A Diplomat to the members of the delegation.

The delegation also held an informal discussion with the officials from the ministry and listened to the introductions on China's diplomacy, media work, and diplomatic work related to Hong Kong. They were shown around the ministry and invited to the exhibition of China's diplomatic achievements.

The whole trip is rich and exciting. The students all expressed that it's a good learning opportunity, which broadened their knowledge and visions. In the future, they will be more than interested in and supportive of the diplomatic undertaking of the motherland.
