Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Quan Holds Consultations with Secretary of State of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland Torstila

On June 13, 2007, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Quan held consultations with Pertti Torstila, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland. Kong made positive comments on bilateral ties, expressing hope that both sides can further strengthen political dialogue, enhance mutual trust, maintain the momentum of economic and trade exchanges and push for mutually beneficial cooperation on science, technology, environmental protection and culture. Reiterating his country's adherence to the one-China policy, Torstila said Finland attaches importance to developing ties with China and is ready to maintain the momentum of high-level visits and further deepen pragmatic cooperation with China in all areas. Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional issues concerning China-EU ties, climate change, Kosovo and the Sudanese region of Darfur.

At the invitation of Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Quan, Torstila arrived in Beijing on June 12 for a three-day visit to China.
