Li Qiang Meets with Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko

On the morning of October 27, 2023 local time, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met with Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko on the sidelines of the 22nd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States in Bishkek.

Li Qiang said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Aleksandr Lukashenko, China-Belarus relations have achieved leapfrog development in recent years. China is ready to work with Belarus to implement the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, seek greater synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and the economic and social development strategies of Belarus, jointly develop the China-Belarus Industrial Park and other key projects, further tap the potential for cooperation in such areas as trade in services and scientific and technological innovation, strengthen people-to-people and cultural cooperation, and continuously deepen and flesh out the China-Belarus all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership. The two sides should strengthen communication and coordination within the SCO and other multilateral mechanisms, in a bid to make greater contributions to regional and world peace, stability and development.

Golovchenko said that Belarus firmly supports China in safeguarding its core interests, and spoke highly of the eight major steps announced by President Xi Jinping to support the joint pursuit of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. Belarus is ready to work with China to deepen cooperation in various fields, strengthen coordination within the SCO and other multilateral frameworks, and jointly promote a multi-polar world.

Wu Zhenglong was present at the meeting.
