Chen Laiping attended the Book Turn-over Program of Northwestern University in Laoag

On December 10, 2007, on behalf of the Consulate of the People's Republic of China in Laoag, Chen Laiping, Consul & Head of Post donated 500 books and videos covering Chinese history, geography, politics, economy and culture to Northwestern University in Laoag.

Held in the University Hostel, the Book Turn-over Program was addressed by Roy Nicolas, Vice President of Northwestern University and Chen.

Chen expressed his gratitude for the warm receiving of the University, said, China-Philippine friendly relations dated back to ancient times and were becoming more and more closer. Chen hoped these books and videos would help teachers and students of the university know Chinese politics, economy, history and culture better, and further enhance mutual understanding and friendship between China and the Philippines. Chen also suggested the university develop exchange and cooperation ties in education and academic research with Chinese counterparts.

On behalf of the university, Vice President Nicolas thanked the generosity of the Consulate, addressing that these books and videos were a good starting of the friendship with the Consulate, and would definitely widening knowledge of the university about China and Chinese culture.
